 Springfield Castle features a Neo Gothic style main residential building, cornered by two towers, one the large Norman keep built in the 15th Century and the smaller tower built later in the 18th Century enclosing a large central courtyard. The home is furnished with elegant antiques and the walls display family portraits but it is also fully equipped for modern life in the 21st Century.
The beautiful drawing room off the main entrance is filled with family antiques and works of art which make it a special place to sit and chat, and perhaps put another log on the open fire when it suits.
The elegant large dining room with it's rich red walls, and fine silver candelabra lighting up the large 14 seater mahogany dining table, is a pleasure to dine in at night.The study is a cosy sitting room with leather sofas and open fireplace. It has free wireless internet access and T.V. and DVD player with an open fireplace. You will enjoy the large warm and welcoming kitchen with it's "always on" 4 oven AGA cooking range. It is a comfortable family room where you can relax while enjoying meal preparation. Ideal for informal meals, all modern conveniences are provided including coffee maker, electric stove, microwave, toaster, fridge etc. A perfect room to plan day trips over a relaxed breakfast with friends and family. There is a separate scullery with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer and a large pantry with an American style fridge/freezer with ice maker On the premises are leisure facilities including a sauna for relaxation, full sized snooker/billiard table, table tennis, and a hard court tennis court. There is a children's playground in the central courtyard. AVAILABLE FACILITIES
While the castle is normally rented on a self-catering basis for a week at a time, your hosts Jonathan and Betty Sykes can arrange for dinners, breakfasts, cleaning and laundry if required throughout your stay or for a special occasion.
Both the villages of Drumcollogher.(2 miles) and Broadford (1mile) have good supermarkets and shops for supplies and of course plenty of good local pubs. Newcastlewest (10 miles ) is a larger market town and Limerick city (35 miles). Cork city is 40 miles. Charleville is 12 miles and has a mainline railway station (Cork-Dublin).
