Secluded castle rental with space to roam
A tour of the farm with Jonathan on the tractor and trailer to meet the deer is a fascinating opportunity to see nature up close.
Wildlife abounds at Springfield and the dawn chorus in spring and summer may be the loudest thing to disturb you.Walking through the woodlands and avenues you may be lucky enough to see some of the wildlife that lives here. We have rabbits, foxes, badgers and even barn owls!
If the weather is fine, why not take a picnic or barbeque to a woodland clearing and enjoy one of the timeless pleasures of country life? There are also large lawns beside the castle for picnicking and play. While there are ancient trees on the estate over 400 years old we have also planted new broadleaf woods with the intention of making Springfield Castle more ecologically sustainable.
For those interested in sustainability we have converted the heating system at the castle to wood burning using our native woods. We are also trying new projects such as growing Shitake and Oyster mushrooms in the new woods in association with The University of Limerick.
